The Crown Poker Room was swarming with celebrities on Monday night, for the 2008 Joe Hachem and Shane Warne Charity Poker Tournament.
Everyone dug deep into their pockets, together raising almost $200,000 for The Shane Warne Foundation to help underprivileged children of Australia.
Gary Lyon hosted the event, handing the customary “shuffle up and deal” over to Brian McFadden to kick off the tournament.
Other celebrities included Lleyton Hewitt, Jeff Fenech, Dave Hughes, Jon Stevens, FiFi Box, Brodie Holland, Brad Sewell, Luke Hodge, Billy Brownless, Robert DiPierdomenico, Dermott Brereton, Kevin Muscat and many more.
The $25,000 first place prize went to Michael Chrisanthopolous, who came third in this year’s Aussie Millions. He, and most others, generously donated part of his winnings back to The Shane Warne Foundation. 2008 Melbourne Poker Champion James Broom also cashed in, as well as Shane’s own brother Jason Warne coming sixth.
The $50,000 prize pool paid out like this:
